So here is it another Friday and guess what, I am leaving today to play in a state softball tournament in Lansing. I am very excited and yet totally nervous, that is just how I role when it comes to competitiveness, I think (NO, I know) Grace gets that from me completely!
Last weekend I went camping with both of my girls and along for the drama and exhaustion was once again my Mom, Mike and my sister girl Suzi. Now Grace and Suz get along famously so I knew that was not going to be an issue at all. Jenni is more the reserved and quiet one, she is the one who I thought was going to have a few break downs if not a dozen.
The girls and I headed to Suzi’s house picked her up and then headed for Charlevoix to visit with her parents. Suzi’s parents are amazing people, I have neglected seeing them since I got married and starting having my own family, but they have always held a spot in my heart as my second set of parents.
When we arrived in the great, beautiful city of Charlevoix we took the girls on a short trip to the beach. Grace, ever the adventurer, loved every second of it. I think she would have stayed forever if I would have let her. Jenni on the other hand, ever our princess, enjoyed the beach for about her limit of 20 minutes and then she was done with it!
The girls got to take a bath in a Jacuzzi tub (it’s the small things right?) the bubbles were on and going strong, but they only lasted about 60 seconds and the girls said they were to loud. After bath time, we settled in for the night or at least the girls did. Suz and I stayed up doing our girl talk for a while longer and then I went to bed also. First, Jenni woke up wanting her Mom and then she woke up again in the middle of the night because she was waiting her turn. Clearly Jenni is not a sound sleeper, very restless and talks in her sleep. Then Grace fell off of the damn bed and onto the cold, hard, slate floor. She cried for a few minutes at least and then fell back asleep. I moved everyone on the bed around so that wouldn’t happen again, and then proceeded to never fall back asleep because every time one girl even flinched I thought they were going to fall off next and I had to catch them. It was a long night!
In the morning we left for camping with my parents, Grace was a pro of course this was her second trip this summer so she was awesome. Jenni ,however, was again the princess. She didn’t like the beach so much and the water was either to cold and or to big and scary to her, I vote on both really! She liked walking around and playing at the campsite though. We had a wonderful time camping and I really enjoyed seeing my girls have fun.
I love these girls like crazy, I hope they remember these times as much as I will! And even though my birthday was on Thursday the girls liked to make me presents and tell me “happy birthday” for the whole weekend. These are the special times I will cherish forever!
