WHAT?!?!? I know, I know crazy right.
Yes, I had a softball tournament in Lansing and my family didn't go with me. As sad as I was to not have my kids with me, I needed a little get away to be Cheryl.
I often refer to myself in two forms, Mommy and Cheryl. Sometimes in the every day life I forget about Cheryl because I am in Mommy mode 24-7. It felt so good to be Cheryl for a few days and not worry about snack time, nap time, and diaper changes. These weekends or days come few and far between so when I can, I will.
So my weekend started off with an injury right out of the gate, taking fielding practice. Note to self: Catch ball with mitt not bare hand.
Then my team enjoyed the evening and prepared for a long day of tournament play.
Saturday came and we lost the first game, then came back to win the next two games to force an appearance on Sunday. At this point we only had one more loss and we were done.
Saturday night was fun, did I mention how much I love my team?!?! We arrived on Sunday ready to play, but nobody told our bats to wake up and hit the ball, so our tournament ended.
I personally felt like I did my absolute best hitting over states weekend, even with a bum hand and two fingers taped together.
It was great to have a little get away with amazing friends and be Cheryl again, I cherish my Cheryl moments, but not as much as I cherish the moment I walked into my house and my girls came running to me as fast as they could yelling "Mommmmmmmyyyyyyyyy"
